Puppies!

Kako's puppies started arriving at 3:30 pm today. So far she has had 5 of the expected 7 or 8. There are 4 boys & 1 girl. The boys have been weighing in at 1.3 pounds and the girl was 1.5 pounds. All seem to be healthy and mom is being a trooper. Better get back to watching for the next pup to arrive. Will try to post more pictures soon.

Tom & Jen ran this 10 dog team with double sleds tonight. The second sled is for added control and for the second person to say warmer because they have the ability to move around rather than just sit the whole time.

They went 6 miles in 50 minutes. Not bad for a team with two yearlings - Tanner & Shasta turn 1 year old on December 27th!!! Not to mention that none of the dogs have run in the last couple of weeks!!

All in all, it was a good run with everyone doing their share of the work. The pups did a great job for their first run ever!! Tanner was off and running right at the start without looking back or worrying about what was happening... he was born to be a sled dog!! Shasta was a bit freaked out by all of it, but after the first mile or so she settled in and ran like she was suppose to be there!!

Tomorrow night the other 10 dog team will be run!!
