Long overdue update...

Wow, I can't believe it is the last day of August already!! This month has been super busy for us yet it seems like we have gotten nothing done!! I am sad to report that a week ago we lost our belived Orca. He was 13 years old. He hasn't been well for a long time, but was eating and getting around okay for the last year so we just let him live his life out. In the last couple of days, it was really obvious that the end was near. We were with him when he left us for a much better life in doggy heaven. I know in my heart that he is now running with others that have touched our lives and I will see them all again one day... cuz I am going to doggy heaven when I go!! All of the other dogs are doing good. Thor & Sable are the "old" dogs now at 12 or 13 years old. The pups are still growing in fits and spurts causing them to be fat one day and skinny a few days later!! It is so interesting to watch them grow and go back and forth! The one year old pups are ready, willing and able to start running, but they don't really know what it means... they will soon learn! The older, veteran dogs are getting very, very excited to start running!! They can feel the chill in the air at night and are just watching for the harnesses to come out!! And on the six o'clock news, the weatherman said we might even get a frost tonight!!!

We had big plans for this weekend, but Tom picked up a nasty cold this week and now I'm not sure what we will get done. The list is so long of things to do, that we may not get thru it before the winter months set in and force us to wait until next year to get more done!!

Well, Tom is down in the bedroom snoozing and I need to get out to clean the pens. Will try to write again this weekend with updates of what gets done...

Kennel Update...

Well, there haven't been any more seizures to report which is good news. But, tonight, we found another "hot spot" on Em's back that needed to be shaved down. I am thinking I might take him to see someone but just need to figure out who... hmmmm.

In other news, Orca is not doing so well. He is only eating every other day or so and is getting weaker each week. Time will tell how much longer he is with us.

But, everyone else is doing good. Fred was grumpy tonight and snapped at Dude, but in Fred's defense... Dude was being a brat and playing licky face with Fred... obviously, Fred didn't see the need. But, no one was hurt so all is well there.

Emenem Update

Just a quick post tonight with an Em update. He has had two more full seizures now. Which makes for a total of 4 that we know of. I didn't actually see the one yesterday, but I was with him during the one this morning. It isn't pretty, but something that we are just going to have to deal with. I talked to the vet this morning and she suggested that we increase the phenobarbitol if he has another one soon. My baby boy is just not healthy and that breaks my heart. I knew this was a possibility going in since his mom had seizures start about 6 months after the litter was born.

Otherwise, things seem to be going pretty good around here for now. I will try to keep this updated with Em news as things happen.

Kennel Update... but not much new...

Not much new to report, but seemed like it was time for me to write an update. As usual, the fair is in town and we are getting lots of rain!! Which is very typical for this time of year! The pens are holding up pretty good, but there are a few that need some gravel and sawdust.

The dogs are doing good. Everyone seems to sence that there is a change in the weather coming and that we should be starting training really, really soon. I am thinking about starting to run a couple of dogs on the 1/4 mile trail here and there. It won't just give them a place to expend some energy, but will help me too!!

As I said, not much to report from here. Hope all is well with everyone out there.

People update...

No news in the doggy world here, but lots happening in the human world... I had an interview yesterday for a job with the borough! I thought it went really well but time will tell if I get it. They said they would be either making a decision to do second interviews or the final decision today. I didn't get a call to schedule a second interview... so, I am left to wonder for the next week if I was the one chosen or not. I am positive I could do the job, I just hope I was able to convince them for the 45 minutes I had their attention. I am thinking I will get a Thank You letter to them on Monday... just need to decide if I want to mail it to them or drop it off personally at the office.

Well, we have a busy weekend planned with projects that need to be done. I am going to try to get the living room walls sanded and the floor painted so we can have visitors on Sunday and the room won't look too horrible. But, I am not sure I want to take on that project with visitors actually schedule to come over... I don't want to get it partially done and have it look even worse in here!! And, Sunday we are having a dinner to visit with a friend that is back from Iraq deployment on 2 weeks R&R. I have lots of cooking to do to...
